NADO Annual Conference 2003

NADO is pleased to announce the dates of its next Annual Conference and AGM focussing on the roles, responsibilities, competencies, terms & conditions of employment of people working with students with disabilities in post-16 education.

This will give members the opportunity to attend a number of presentations and participate in a range of workshop sessions.

Venue

The Conference will be held at the Brayford Campus, which is based on a Roman harbour waterfront setting. With spectacular views up to the cathedral it is the UK's newest purpose built campus. Still expanding, the innovative architecture is setting the pace for university developments.

Accommodation will be available on both the Monday and Tuesday nights in recently built student accommodation on campus. A meal will be available on the Monday evening in the Atrium's Servery, which is located in the Main Academic Building.

Programme

The Conference will start at 10.30 am on the Tuesday morning with Registration and Coffee followed by the Opening and Welcome at 11.00 am.

There will be various presentations during the course of the day, followed by workshop sessions.

There will be an opportunity for feedback before the Conference closes at 5.30 pm.

A Conference Dinner is planned for Tuesday evening, providing an opportunity for networking with colleagues.

On Wednesday 2 July, the day will commence at 9.30 with the Annual General Meeting, when Annual Reports will be submitted by the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer and the Election of Officers will take place followed by sessions running through until Lunch. The afternoon will include a Plenary Session, led by the Chair. The day will finish at around 3.00 pm.

Workshops

Workshop 1: What will the DO and other personnel need to do to comply with those QAG requirements, to do them in a timely way and what they will need to know?

Workshop 2 and 3: Non-medical helpers and their relationship to the Disability Officer / Service. One session aimed at NMHs and the other at DOs.

Workshop 4: Students in transition from FE to HE: how FE members can help the HE Institution, how to manage students' expectations about support in HE and other issues.
